
Shruti Choudhry (born 3 October 1975, New Delhi) is an Indian politician from Haryana and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since October 2024, she has served as Cabinet Minister in the Government of Haryana after winning the Tosham Assembly constituency.
She is the granddaughter of the legendary former Chief Minister of Haryana, Chaudhary Bansi Lal - one of the most iconic political figures in independent India's history. Her father, the late Surender Singh, and mother Smt. Kiran Choudhry also served as ministers in the Government of Haryana.
Choudhry received her early education at the Convent of Jesus & Mary and Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, New Delhi. She pursued higher studies in Oxford, England, earned a B.A. from Delhi University, and completed her LL.B. from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. She practised as a lawyer before entering politics. She married advocate Arunabh Choudhry on 7 March 2003.
Joined the Indian National Congress following the death of her father Surender Singh. Began her political career carrying forward the family legacy.
Won by 55,097 votes over Ajay Singh Chautala. Served on parliamentary committees for Agriculture and Empowerment of Women (2009–2014).
Joined BJP with her mother Smt. Kiran Choudhry, citing inspiration from PM Narendra Modi's Viksit Bharat vision. Welcomed by CM Nayab Singh Saini.
Won Tosham with a 14,257-vote margin. Sworn in as Cabinet Minister for WCD and Irrigation & Water Resources on 17 October 2024.
Chaudhary Bansi Lal served as Chief Minister of Haryana multiple times and as Union Cabinet Minister. He is credited for Haryana's industrial transformation. Her father Surender Singh and mother Kiran Choudhry both served as state ministers. Shruti Choudhry is the third generation of this family in public office.
